The College of Engineering started with five departments (Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Electronic Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, and Department of Architectural Engineering) when Incheon Institute of Technology, the predecessor of Incheon University, opened in 1979, and has now transformed into a college equipped with three majors (Major in Mechanical and Robotics Engineering and Major in Mechatronics Engineering) and six departments (Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Electronic Engineering, Department of Industrial and Management Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Safety Engineering, and Department of Energy and Chemical Engineering) in the School of Mechanical Systems Engineering.

Through continuous efforts, we have successfully recruited many outstanding faculty members and attracted excellent students, and have made significant contributions to the cultivation of specialized engineering personnel, community service, and national industrial development. Furthermore, facing a golden opportunity to leap forward as a prestigious domestic university and eventually a leading university in Northeast Asia—such as through the relocation to the new Songdo campus and the transition to a national university—we are preparing for another leap forward by establishing concrete and feasible development plans and making vigorous efforts to implement them.

With the educational goal of “fostering professional technicians equipped with responsibility, ethical awareness, comprehensive design capabilities, field work skills, and creativity,” the College of Engineering is making various efforts to cultivate talents with international competitiveness and future-oriented professional knowledge.
