This course aims to understand the culture that produced the drama by using the drama and its context as a cultural text.
To do this, students will experience one work by a white author and one by a black author. They will then examine the content of the two works, focusing on the themes of politics, gender roles, family, success, puritanism, and race in English and American culture.
