인천대, 'AI Native University, AI For Good' 공식 선언

INU Officially Declares “AI Native University, AI For Good”

Incheon National University (President: In-jae Lee) held the “1st Anniversary Ceremony of the Fourth Corporate Executive Administration” at INU CUBE on May 11 and officially declared the university’s AI innovation vision: “AI Native University, AI For Good.”

“AI Native University, AI For Good” represents a vision in which AI is fundamentally embedded across education, research, and administration while being utilized to realize positive values for humanity and society. The declaration emphasizes integrating the values of safety, sustainability, and inclusiveness into the university’s culture and educational environment.

The initiative is particularly meaningful in that it presents a systematic implementation roadmap centered on a comprehensive AI transformation (AX) strategy that redesigns education, research, and administration around AI technologies.

The event brought together university leadership—including the president, vice presidents, and executive administrators—as well as representatives of students, faculty members, staff, teaching assistants, and the Student AI Supporters group. Major programs included the AX Innovation Relay Declaration, AI-based specialization strategy briefings, demonstrations of AI implementation in the Institutional Research (IR) system, and the launch ceremony of the Student AI Initiative Group.

In his opening remarks, President In-jae Lee presented three core values for higher education in the AI era:

△ Transition toward creativity-focused education

△ Strengthening critical thinking skills

△ Developing social relationship competencies

He emphasized, “It is not simply a matter of creating new courses—the philosophy of education itself must fundamentally change.”

The event opened with the “AX Innovation Relay Declaration,” during which representatives of students, faculty, staff, and teaching assistants each shared commitments toward AI-driven innovation. Participants then reaffirmed the university’s collective commitment to AI transformation through a unified declaration ceremony.

During the AI specialization strategy briefing, the university unveiled five major specialization strategies, 20 implementation initiatives, and 58 detailed action plans connected to future strategic industries centered on AI. The five strategic pillars include:

△ AI Native University, AI For Good

△ Next-generation bio talent development hub

△ Leadership in the social integration of robotics industries

△ Leadership in West Coast marine convergence governance

△ Advancement of specialization systems and institutional capabilities

Key AI initiatives include the AI+Human education model, establishment of the INU AI Convergence Research Institute, and creation of an integrated AX governance framework directly overseen by the university president.

The president also demonstrated the implementation of AI services within the university’s Institutional Research (IR) system, showcasing how AI innovation is being translated into operational systems rather than remaining a conceptual vision. The system is expected to improve efficiency and accuracy in institutional performance management. At the same time, the university emphasized that although AI processes data, contextual understanding, error correction, and strategic decision-making remain responsibilities of university members. Continuous feedback and active data input from university constituents were highlighted as key drivers for future system advancement.

The event concluded with the launch ceremony for the Student AI Initiative Group, during which Student AI Supporters were officially appointed. These students will promote AI-related programs, conduct monitoring activities, and facilitate feedback processes. The university also plans to sequentially recruit a Student AX Strategy Group (25 members) and Student AI Leaders (10 members) to continue AI projects addressing regional societal challenges.

The declaration aligns closely with Incheon Metropolitan City’s vision of becoming a “human-centered AI coexistence city.” Under the vision of “AI Native University, AI For Good,” Incheon National University plans to accelerate AI-based innovation across education, research, and administration while advancing as a leading regional institution driving AI transformation for both local communities and the nation, grounded in its educational mission of “cultivating communication-oriented talent that challenges creative innovation.”
